Oil Painting Weekend Workshop
Two-day workshop for people wishing to improve their techniques in oil painting. The course will cover topics such as techniques for alla prima painting, loosening up and expressive mark making, seeing in values and using colour to create harmonious paintings. Group is small to allow for lots of individual tailored support and feedback on your painting.
The workshop will focus on helping you to improve your techniques in oil painting, with lots of one-to-one support and guidance from Shona, as well as painting demonstrations. We will also carry out some activities designed to help you ‘loosen up’ your painting.
With two days, we have the time to dive a bit deeper into the study of oil painting, with plenty of time for practise and experimentation.
Suitable for anyone who has previously attended a workshop with me, or those who have some experience of painting in oils.

The Details
We will be working from my own studio on the Aboyne Castle Estate (please note the studio is accessed by a flight of stairs).
Date: Saturday 31st January and Sunday 1st February 2026.
Time 10am–4pm both days
Price: £155, which includes all painting equipment, materials and tea/coffee.
What to bring:
Lunch (tea and coffee will be provided)
Old clothes or apron
